Guitar Finishing

I was commissioned by another one of Bill’s students to finish this purple heart cutaway.

Over the years I have had the honor and pleasure to apply the finish to many Cumpiano guitars. This one made of curly koa and spruce and the Brazilian rosewood and cedar one below were especially beautiful and satisfying.
Here is the Rosewood pictured above being played by the British folk stylist Martin Simpson who dropped by the shop during a break on a recent US tour.

Here is a twelve string that was made by one of William’s students. After the course was completed he hired me to put on the finish, glue on the bridge and do the final set up.

This Rosewood Classical cutaway was made by Bill. Making Bill’s guitars look good is not difficult. The quality of Bill’s workmanship, attention to detail and sense of aesthetics makes it very easy.
